    Sensory Bottles

What do you use for your liquid? I've seen just water, vegetable oil and water, just vegetable oil, baby oil, mineral oil. Dd made some with just water since that's all I had on hand, and well, I'm not impressed. I have a little one that likes to shake things and I thought he would like some, but want the objects to sink slower. What works for you?

I've made some liquidless ones. Feathers, pom pom craft balls, cut up pipe cleaner bits, sequins, etc..all work well.

The ones I like best are the ones with water or the dry ones. I tried oil & water together but it looked cloudy & gross. I'm not sure I did it right though

The 2 favourite ones I have here are one with water with plastic beads of different colours in and one with toothpicks and rice.

I have one with the alphabet in foam letters hidden in rice but although I love it the kids aren't as interested.

The youngest just like watching glitter

I lovethis sensory bottles!! Probably more than the kids do.

Here are mine: left to right they are glitter filled, water beads, oil/water, colored rice (with hidden objects) and dish soap.

I've used pretty much any liquid that fills the bottle. I let the kids tell me ideas about what to add too!

DH is building a holder like a wine rack kind of to store them all and still alliw easy access for the kids

Ice. It's flavored fizzy water with zero calories/carbs (DH is diabetic) I get it at Sam's Club but I have seen them at Wal-Mart and grocery stores too.

What's in your glitter one for liquid? Dd did a water one, but it wasn't "cool" enough. I bought some baby oil and was going to have her try that today, but someone took all my plastic bottles to the recycling and they've already been around to pick it up. Dh NEVER puts the recycling in the bin, always leaves it on the counter-until this morning. I guess we'll have to wait.

I'll have to hit the dollar store I guess and get some things for dry ones too. Never really thought about that. I mean, we have the sensory bins with dry things, but never thought to put them in a bottle. I think my brain is on vacation lately since we didn't take one this year, it is taking it upon itself to take it::.

                Thanks ladies!

3/4 water and a 1/4 baby oil. Oh, and probably a quarter cup of glitter.

It seems to make the water just dense enough that the glitter slowly cascades down and doesn't clump.
