I would be willing to guess it's someone that just got laid off or fired and that fee is to supplement her unemployment.

But you can't legally supplement your unemployment without declaring it. You are only allowed to make a small amount extra before they deduct it from your unemployement, again illegal, but people do it all the time, not claiming what they earn.

I'm in Mississippi. The bad thing is that the cost of living here isn't cheap either!! By that's what we get for the welfare state. We have to spread it around so everyone that don't work can get it, so even those that are working hard like my dcp only get $40 a week per child and that's even for infants!!

But we can charge parents the overage here though.

And centers get a lot more than in home providers.

Right now I'm at my five max and all five are state pay from two different families.

I just can't imagine how anyone stays in business!! Is it just supposed to be supplemental?? At least you can charge on top of that- imagine if you couldn't!

that's exactly what I was thinking. They will either burn out quick or change their rules after a few weeks.

If I couldn't, I wouldn't take state pay at all. No way can I afford to watch a child for $8 a day. Not happening. The only good part is that all of my five extra are afternoon. So they come here and then at 830 after bedtime routines, they go to bed I stay up but I normally would anyway. They leave by midnight
