I Think I Charged Too Little?

I have a little girl attending who has a 7 year old sister. The older sister also attended here. During the school year, she comes maybe 2 or 3 times a week after school. She is now coming full days here. When she was after school only, I only charged mom.$7 per day for.after care. I just quoted her $15 per day for the full day. Hmmmmm. I think it's a tad cheap? She is an AWESOME girl and really likes to help. Love this family! But gosh, I charge $40 a day normally. Oy. Totally not fair to ask for $25 now, right? They don't have tons of $$, and I think I should not ask for more. Doh!

Ugh, I'd go back and probably tell mom I wasn't thinking straight when she asked and that $15 is actually NOT the full day rate.

Cut her a break if you feel the need or can manage it financially yourself, but definitely not a $25 per day discount.... that's insane.

Or keep the rate the same, but make that girl work! I'd give her a list of tasks - I bet she'd love the responsibility and maybe it would help you out a ton too. If she's not responsible enough for that, than I'd do as blackcat said.

She does help out a lot. She cleans up the toys, clears the table after meals, helps put out cots, plays with the Littles. Heck, she even takes a NAP! Yeah, I quoted the rate, guess I'm.stuck with it. The family has been with me almost 5 years.

I would leave it, but, I am a big pushover!:: Also, I would want to help if they are money tight and I already quoted them a cheaper rate!!::

Heck if she helps that much, I'd keep the rate as it is. Wow I'd love to have a little helper. Although all my littles have tasks, they all have to clean their plates etc from the table but your little helper sounds awesome!!

If it were me, if keep it the same and give her a little helper badge

I agree with this. I almost always let my former kids come back on a limited basis on the cheap. I have one coming one day per week this summer for $10 a day. Due to age restrictions I always have room for 1 or 2 and I enjoy seeing them, plus I kind of think of it as a nice gesture to the parents who paid my going rate year after year and were excellent daycare parents as well.

None of my families have ever taken advantage of this in a negative way, and if it got out of hand I'd have no problem putting a stop to it, but it works well for me.

If you can afford it, keep it! I would probably mention it to mom, though- in case you want to up the charge next year if she returns!
