I don't think there is anything wrong with when you are taking them out to play. You shouldn't have to go out again because this child arrives so late & is picked up early. I also like going out early. I'd rather not fuss with putting sunscreen on 4-5 kids when I can avoid it part of the time by going out between 8:30-9:30 or so. Plus like you mentioned most kids in my care sleep between 1-3 so we aren't going out then. Is there a reason why the child comes so late, are they contracted to come earlier but they just don't?

Seems like you'd want your outside time to be DURING part of those hours, not first thing in the morning when it's cool out (obviously depending on time of year and where you live), and in the late afternoon when it's also getting cooler out. But that's just me.

I would never change a schedule to suit ONE family though. Do what's best for you and your program.
This time of the year where I am at it has still been quite warm during that timeframe. Today it was at least in the mid 60s (it hit 90 today!) around 8:30 am.

        Arizona??

I understand. I guess I have the frame of mind of where I live. I'd never let them out earlier than 10. It all depends on your local weather.

I don't live anywhere near Arizona (on the east coast) and it was 98 here yesterday, 93 today. It's about 70 right now. I think that's a perfect time to take kids out if it's as hot there as it has been here!

I agree with both calling the licensor and about getting rid of this family, or at least letting them know that you don't appreciate being threatened.

Nope, not in Arizona. I'm in Ohio but it has been unseasonably warm. It is supposed to cool off some now (only getting to 70 today) so I will likely play outdoors a bit later- 9 - 10 & then again from 3 - 4.

                I got outside early too.
                we go outside 9:30 - 10:30
because at 10:30 i start getting lunches ready. We eat at 11:15 and often times I'm cooking what is for lunch.
Plus during the summer 10-2 is the hottest time of the day and when they recommend staying out of the direct son. My back yard is full sun during those hours.

We go back outside at about 3pm til closing. During the times we are outside the backyard is mostly shaded during the summer and it is ideal conditions.

During the winter months I plan to adjust only slightly.
Going out from 9:45 - 10:45 and again at 3:15

We do those time outside too SBS. Mornign is 930-1045 so I can get lunch ready lunch is 11-12 and then we do story and naps from 12-2. When everyone wakes up and we clean up I take them outside from 230-everyone leaves (4 ish)

Today it is a nasty nasty day outside with thunder and lightening, but I also have one out sick...so it is just an indoor day. Normally if it is just rain we still go out and stay under the covered patio and do arts or splash in puddles...but not with thunder and lightning

We go out from 11 to 12 (or it sometimes is more like 11:30 to 12) and then from 3:30 to close or 5 PM (most of my kids get picked up around 4:30). Lunch is at 12:30, naps from 1 to 3ish. Snack is at 3ish.
