So, I Thought I Was Going To Be Full This Summer....

Turns out, nope. Dad of 2 pt kiddos just got laid off, and before school dcb will go to drop in basis, as his dad only works on call during the summer. And for another possible dcb, well, I haven't heard back from gma, so I'm not going to count on it until she signs a contract. That brings me down to just one full time dcg, and one drop in. Thankfully, dh's work picks up in the summertime, so we won't starve, I was just hoping to get ahead on some debt and add to our savings for winter.
At least I know that I have room in my car for outings. There's quite a few summer activities going on around here, so we can take advantage of most of them.

Yeah, my summer has turned out to look rather odd too.

I am full and have kids returning in the fall but a good majority of them are off for the summer (paid though) but the small group of kids actually in attendance makes it hard.

Whenever I have a smaller group than normal, there seems to be a bit more chaos and even a few days where I am stuck working and only have 1 or 2 kids....which then makes my day go sooooo slow.

I do have ALL Fridays off in the summer though so that makes it nice. Sadly though, I thrive on routine and consistency so I will be restless and living on "edge" until fall when things get back to "normal" (if there is such a thing )

@Amyleigh Hoping you fill your spaces fast!

Me too. For a week and a half I will only have 1 child. yuck! I am looking to fill a spot for the fall so hopefully it will be filled sooner rather than later.

I am in the same exact boat (even with the Fridays off - at least for part of the summer). I always say I can't wait till the lighter days of summer but then by mid-July I am longing for the normal routine of September!!!

:::: Oh thank goodness it isn't just me.

I was beginning to think I might be crazy for feeling that way....

Oh but wait, your user name actually has "crazy" in it so maybe we are BOTH crazy for craving the routine of normal even though that means a lot more kids.... :: ::

I just got word today my only full timer is leaving July 3rd... I wasn't expecting him to go until first week in August, so that's a hit to my pocket book. I knew it was flexible though because they are looking for before and after school for next year, with a sensory processing disorder he'll be attending early education classes at the public school and we're in different districts.

So glad when I took a teacher DCK in January I made it mandatory to do 2 days, so he'll at least be here 2 days a week. I have another lil guy 4 days a week. This will make Thursdays my day off. I'm choosing to coupon and celebrate it with full use of my zoo season pass, and look for free classes and sign up for all things Library. We WILL have fun this summer regardless.

Fall, I will be full again. So I'm choosing to not stress and just do what I can to still make it fun!

              Good LUCK to you too
