What Kind Of Potty Training Gear Do You Have?

I have an infant son and have worked in the past with 3-4 year olds. So, obviously, I don't have any experience with the toddler and 2-year-old crowd, and I have never helped potty train anyone! My first experience with this will be in my daycare once I open up (hopefully soon now--just waiting on the inspection).

What kind of gear do you have? Do I really need a potty chair? Would a toilet seat that has a toddler-sized seat attached to it and a step-stool be enough?

Our bathroom is teeny, tiny, and a potty chair just wouldn't fit in there. Which means I'd have to keep it elsewhere in my house... the thought of that is gross to me.

From reading comments here, I'm decided that I won't do any potty training until the child has been successful at home for 2 weeks and then successful here for 2 weeks--then we can switch to underwear.

I have a small child size toilet seat that fits over the regular toilet.

I have a teeny tiny bathroom also. 1940's house-small kitchen and mini-micro bathroom! I have both, child sized seat with step stool and a ladybug potty chair.

I use the regular toilet seat- I refuse to have kids eliminate into a bucket when I have plumbing! I don't use a smaller seat- the kids face backwards for a while (more secure). I do have to help them up for the first couple of weeks or so and then they use the stool. And I don't allow boys to stand until school age- even then: yuck!

I have a whole set of stackable one piece potty chairs, plus one of those rings for the toilet.

I also have a basket of thick training pants.

Aaaand, I have these weird animal cutouts that we use as sticker charts. I have no idea where we got them, but they are the perfect size. The kids go home after a few days with a blue rooster covered in stickers. Hey..whatever works.

Just a plain ole toilet and a step stool. The seat in the kids bathroom has a smaller hole.

                  Home Depot.

But I didn't pay that much for it. We've had that seat for two years. Very sturdy. It's very awesome for the smaller ones and they feel very secure on it.

I only use the potty ring that fits on the seat. My own kids were teeny and needed it so they didn't get dunked.

For those who don't allow non school aged boys to pee standing up, how do you enforce that? To be honest, my 4 yo boys do very well standing, my school aged boys are the problem!!

All my boys stand to pee. I never quite understood the sitting to pee thing. IMHO part of potty training is teaching them how to pee standing while actually hitting the toilet .

I don't have any problems with pee missing the toilet. The occasional accident is cleaned up by that child before the hand washing process. Happens maybe once a month.

I have a potty and I am not their Mom/Dad so I don't potty train them.

For the TINY ones, I have a seat that is placed over the larger seat. I also have a stool in front of toilet and in front of mirror since some struggle to climb up there.

I HAVE to enforce this, I use reminders and until they remember I will do a 'quick peek' to make sure. I have had pee go EVERYWHERE on numerous occasions. One of my dcbs is too chubby to see his 'youknowwhat' to aim it, and the other refuses to touch it to aim, so their accuracy is HORRIBLE. Nothing like cleaning up soaking wet seats/floor/stool/socks/pants when there wasn't an accident, multiple times a day! I even revised my toilet training section of the handbook to add this in there.

I have a ring for the toilet for when they are starting out. Once they are comfy with the potty, then it's just the regular seat. I have a stool in front of it and we just slide it over the 1 foot to the sink. No room for 2 stools without tripping.
