    Exotic Pets?

I just got a pet hedgehog. Her enclosure is in the family part of the home where the daycare kids don't go, but my husband expressed some concern as to what the state might say, especially if we allow her to have babies, as I intend.
    Any thoughts? Experience with this?

We have a pet rat... But what do your state regs say about pets?? I'd have it vet checked and have your vet write something as to the safety of them around kids... Does the state check your non daycare areas when they come in??

We had a snake until my son took it to college with him. We also have a gecko. Both were fine with state.

Yes, the state checks all areas of the house.
I will call the vet, good idea. State regs only refer to typical house pets like cats and dogs andthat they need rabies shots.

I've only heard of some states having issues with reptiles (no snakes, lizards, turtles, frogs and such) and sometimes birds need a vaccine.

I've never heard anything about hedgies

It's always best to call licensing to confirm though. We have a chinchilla and licensing asked, a what?? Caged and "furry" you're typically good.

I will be calling the state. They are very slow to return phone calls though, so I wanted to see what everyone thought.
Thank you for the heads up with reptiles.
