    Text From DCM

"I got asked to work Friday as well - so we will be out Thursday and Friday this week."

Do you see why I am annoyed?

I'm confused. She is working but the kid will not be there?

I don't care for the way she tells me he is coming an additional day, rather than asking me if he can come that day! I already have 6 kids scheduled for that day.

Is she paying for a full-time spot?

Ok so by "we will be out Thursday and Friday" means they will be there. Sorry, I took that as they were NOT coming.

I would be annoyed if a dcm told me instead of asked if they were not scheduled for that day.

So she got ASKED to work but you got TOLD to?!

I'd text her back and say that you don't have the space. Someone else ASKED you if you had room for their child instead so you are taking that child.

"Sorry Jane, I don't have room - you'll have to find other arrangements for the day. Also, in the future instead of telling, please ASK if there will be room for little Johnny on days he's not expected. Thanks!"

I would reply with "ok great, see you Monday"

I read that as if they will be gone Thursday and Friday. Even if I know what they mean.

I agree with others, unless shes contractually given that day, let her know you're full! (Even if not?) She'll hopefully think again next time she wants to just INFORM you last minute that they will be coming less than 48 hours notice and she doesn't have the courtesy to ask- no way in my book ::

I'm pretty sure this is how 3 out of 4 current parents between the ages of 20-35 years old ask their provider questions.

                      Love this!!!

If after she responds with "No, I mean he will be there Thursday and Friday."

                      My response would be:

"Oh, sorry Jane. Friday is not a regularly scheduled day & I'm already at capacity for Friday. In the future if you need a schedule change, I need it by Friday for the upcoming week. Thanks!"

Pretty much! She is a new dcm so I guess she needs some training! She is a drop-in that comes only on Thursdays or Fridays if she gets called in, her sister watches the baby M-W.

Unless you need the money, "Sorry, I'm full!"

People treat you how you let them. I don't think being passive aggressive and saying you're full is the way to go. She wouldn't 'learn' anything from that. She would probably believe you. Then, when she gets another added shift she will most likely do the same thing again. And, you will again get upset about it.

Why don't you just tell her that you need to be consulted about extra days as you may not have the space available for her? She may not have thought about that or considered your feelings.... after all alot of people think only about themselves.

                              My Response:

"I'm sorry, I'm confused. Are you asking if I have room on Friday? I didn't see a question so I wasn't sure. Let me know. Thanks!"
