    Uncomfortable Conversations

So I hate to have to bring up uncomfortable conversations, but I am consistent with my policies! Yesterday my DCM came at 5:25 (I thought PU was 5:00) so I reminded her that I have a late fee if I've not approved a late PU. Well, come to find out that she's not off until 5 (Long story short- new, temporary family that started last week, mom is training for new job out of town and schedule has varied depending on if she's here or there. Same family I was up and ready for at 7, and didn't get here until almost 7:30 b/c I didn't know mom would be later on out-of-town days. Anyways...) Turns out M-TH would be approx. 10.5 hour days once she starts position here in town, and I max at 10 hour days. So I had to inform her that it would cost extra for those days... No argument or anything, just a simple OK, and it was done! I hate seeming greedy (which I know I'm not, but I hadn't mentioned the overtime fee with her contract b/c I didn't know she'd need it) and I love when DCPs are understanding and don't make it awkward!!! happyface

Greedy?! Come on! You're working a 10.5 hour day. You deserve to be paid for it. It's good you spoke up.

Glad she was so compliant! happyface

I once had a family start here KNOWING the after hours fee. They were here 4 weeks and decided that if we didn't stop charging them the fee they would leave. Oh, and they didn't REALLY need their kids here an hour later each day. They just liked to get tattoos, go to the grocery store, get a manicure, etc. Needless to say we let them leave.
