    More or Less????

Do you'll give your dcks seconds when they ask for them? I have 3 dcbs that wants seconds on every meal I give them. I don't think that they are still hungry, I think it's more of being greedy. These are some very big boys for their ages!

Not if I know we had a nice filling meal. I'm currently having this issue with my own DD and her weight..... It's a strugggle.

I think it depends on how big your servings are. I serve the minimum serving size for their first helping. In most cases, the "serving size" isn't a whole lot. They are allowed to ask for more but they have to have taken at least one bite of everything on their plate first. When I give them more I give them about 1/2 a serving size. They do not get thirds unless they have eaten everything on their plate and have had seconds of vegies and fruits. Thirds is just a tiny bit more (maybe a 1/4 serving size) and that's all. Then don't get more after that. None of the kids I have are overweight or even chunky. They are all think and fit. We are very busy and active so they work up an appetite. I have some that will have thirds at most meals and some that won't finish their firsts.

I give second of everything. I have healthy active normal kiddos that eat a lot! I put as much food on the counter as I will let them eat and they serve themselves family style. 99% of the time they finish everything put out. I serve a veggie fruit whole grain lean meat and milk at every meal. They know the consequence for not eating is playing hard on a hungry tummy.

I give seconds on vegetables as well, but it's like pulling teeth to get them to eat them the first time. These boys are some meat eaters!

Our meals be filling and I don't want to not give it to them in case they are really still hungry. I have a 3 year old that weighs at least 70lbs give or take a few pounds and he is solid!

I give seconds of whatever they want, but never thirds. I give small portions the first time. If they have eaten well and tried everything, I will give them seconds.

                    My kiddos can have seconds......
                    or thirds
                    or fourths if they want.

But we have a few rules:
                    • No additional servings unless ALL food is gone from plate
                    • All additional servings start with veggies first

I give seconds when they ask for it, but it has gotten to the point where nothing else interest them but food. Now I do have one dcg that barely eats anything and sometimes she won't eat at all.

I agree, I usually give small 1st portions, I HATE wasting food, then will give bigger 2nds when we know what they want. They must eat some of their fruits and vegetables before I give seconds, though.

They are suppose to have a 1oz of meat, but their portion is always bigger that that and so is everything else. When I give them seconds I will give a smaller amount.

Now 2 of them will eat their entire meal, the 3rd one will eat most of it and that is why I do give them seconds when they ask for it.
