    Drooping Eyelid

Have you guys ever had a dck wake up with one eyelid dropping? I have a 1 yr old dcg who woke up with her left eyelid dropping, to the point that the other kids were asking what was wrong with her eye. It is a little better now, although her eye still seems swollen. It is not an injury - it is just dropping. I've never had anything like this with my own kids, so I'm not sure what to think.

    TIA for help!!

Has she had a cold or any type of nasal/sinus congestion lately? could be sinus pressure...

honestly, it could be ANY number of things. She may have had pressure on the eye while sleeping, obviously a stroke is rare but not out of the realm of possibility.

I would say if it does not improve within a reasonable amount of time call mom.

Spider bite maybe? I agree with Oneluckymom, it could be anything and if it seems to remain the same for the next hr, I'd call Mom. At least to make her aware even if she didn't see a need to pick-up, better to be safe then sorry!

I would recommend mom take the child to see a dr just to rule out anything serious...this could be neurological. Better to be safe even if it seems silly.

If it were a bite i would think you should see redness and or swelling.

Keep an eye on it. You can try putting a warm compress on it and see if that helps. It is more than likely just a sinus thing (all the tubes are so close) but it could also be a bite. My daughter gets allergy eyes but both at once, not just one.

No difficulty breathing or apparent distress?

Can she eat and drink normal? I've never heard of bells Palsy in a young kid, but if she has any other symptoms, i'd call the mom.

Bells palsy does happen in very young kids..trust me

One symptom of bp is numbness on that side or dribbling from that side when drinking

Thanks for the replies. She was fine, other than the swollen and drooping eyelid. It did get very watery after an hour or so. I really think it must have to do with allergies. I texted mom a picture, she called the doctor, and they said to wait and see what happens.

It was really strange, initially, when she couldn't open her eye. And it wasn't "cruddy" like pink eye.

My eye does that when I'm coming down with something. My mom always called it my sleepy eye.

It could just be a sty. Sometimes I wake up with my upper eye lid swollen and looks like its drooping if I get a sty (they are usually caused by allergies or debris irritating the eyelid).
