    Special Needs Provider

    Are their any other special needs providers? My daycare is catered to children living with sickle cell and asthma. I started the daycare because my DS , who is 19 months, has sickle cell and suffers from wheezing during the winter months and I felt his daycare didn't take my concern seriously concerning his health as well as they spoiled him because they felt sorry for him.
    I'm just starting my daycare and enrollment is low but we are slowly building. My question is should I become a non - profit in order to get more grants and assistance for the families who enroll or remain for profit?

    I would put this on the tax board and ask Tom. I bet there are things you have to consider. you need a board and can you still take the deductions on your house? or do you need another property. ask an expert.
    It:: will wait

      I can't answer the non profit questions, though I am considering going that way with my animal rescue operation, so I would be interested in the answers you get.
      However, I do take special needs kiddos. I have worked with asthma, ADD and ADHD, autism and Aspberger's, deaf children and those with apraxia or aphasia, and several combinations of these things.

        I had a child who had been a shaken baby and was in foster care. She was 3 yo but developmentally only about 1 yo. I loved that little girl so much, however I remained as strict with her as I did the other children in care.

        She spent a few times in time out and she understood what it was about. It did help. I still spoiled her with love...probably a little more than the others, but she didn't interact with the other children very much so the interaction we had was most of what she got throughout the day.
