I don't know, but I hope she hasn't been doing this for awhile. It says she's been employed there for 5 years? I hate to think this is a regular thing.

OMG so horrible. What is wrong with people?! I can't believe someone wouldn't have noticed strange behavior from the kids if she had been doing that. I would pull my child out IMMEDIATELY. Clearly who ever is responsible for staffing is not doing their job.

I think years ago (maybe 4+) a daycare CENTER was putting benedryl syrup in the children's drinks to "HELP" them sleep.

            This is beyond horrible.

Yesterday I heard about the case in Pleasanton, CA with the ex-preschool teacher taping up a child's wrist and legs, because they refused to take a nap & now this one in Morgan Hill, CA....both are in nearby towns. What is going on in peoples heads? Absolutely sickening

Oh ladies you would be surprised how many parents and providers use benadryl to get kids to sleep. The most likely room to have this go on in a center is the one year old room.

I did a training with Child Net years ago and the teacher was telling the class that her center had to stop the parents from bringing in premade bottles because they were dopeing the bottles and asking for a specific bottle to be given at a specific time before they picked up... so the benadryl would have time to kick in.

If parents bring premade bottles and they identify ONE as the pre-home bottle... best know that they have it doped with meds that will make the kid sleep.

If parents bring premade bottles and the identify ONE as the pre-nap bottle... best know it is doped with fever medicine.

Sabine Beiber is one who was tried in open court with cameras in the courtroom back in the early 2000's. I watched that trial gavel to gavel.

The only thing that makes me go ???? with this one is why she bothered buying pills when she could have had the easy peezy liquid to pop in their cups. She couldn't have possibly have known that this was just a pill of benadryl.

                  So true, Nan!
Tylenol PM is just acetaminophen and Benadryl.

Yep and this is exactly the reason WHY I require the parents to provide me with clean empty bottles and UNOPENED packages of formula and leave them here at daycare. I've heard of this also but more on the parents end of it ... not so much that the providers were doing it .

That is actually near where I live, It says that woman lives in my town! I was just talking about it to the lady at the front desk in the lobby of my school (along with the tie up teacher). When will people learn that there are NATURAL non-medication ways to get children to sleep! They do take time to adjust but are WAY more safer. This is when a regular routine comes in handy, also deep breathing exercises, making sure the room is dark enough (black out curtains) and comfortable enough (ac/fan/humidifier), rubbing their back/feet/temples, warm milk (NOT doesed with anything), limiting as much as destractions as possible (possibly white noise machine or soft sounds CD). This kinda reminds me of on Americas Supernanny when the mom would make the kids drink a shot of Metatonan (sp?) to help them sleep every night.

Sleeping aids are addictive (can lead to dependancy), NOT FDA tested/approved for children, lead to groggyness/ irritability/ nightmares/ paranoia (psychosis)/Death (OD)/ waking up every few hours, and can actually mess up normal sleep patterns causing insomnia.

I guess this is another reason why I opened my DC. Knowing that my few select kids have the best that I can provide makes a world of difference in my book.

I remember this! I don't know why I even remember that, as I was still a chef, hadn't even considered having a baby, which mine is now 2, & my other kids would've been 14 & 15, so wasn't even in my realm to think of daycare stuff. I think it got national attention.

I'm betting it was something stronger. I know of little ones in my care that benadryl does nothing but hype them up!!! It does nothing for my daughter when she takes it (sleep wise).
