    Convenience Items

Do any of you purchase things for convenience for a specific child. 3 month old that takes a pacifier but his mom (first time mom) purchased a one that is too big for him and he can not keep it in his mouth on his own. She also has 4oz bottles but he takes 5oz to 6oz, so I have to use 2 bottles per feeding.
I have told her about the pacifier and the bottles but she has yet to bring them.

I am thinking about buying bigger bottles and the right size pacifier for him to have while he is here. Am I crazy.

Are there any convenience items that you all purchase that are just for you but parents should probably bring?

I replaced a pacifier when I accidentally dropped the other one into the toilet.
I buy my own wipes because I don't like the generic brand ones.
I buy my own sunscreen if the parents don't provide the spray on type I prefer.

I have purchased my own pacifiers and bottles, mainly because if I lose them, or they get damaged I don't have to worry about replacing it. Or if they forget it at home, I have one already here.

          1.
Either insist the parent brings what you need to care of the child or refuse service.

          Or 2.
Buy what is needed and add the cost (plus an inconvenience fee) to the next payment due from the parent.

          Or 3.
Make it part of your business to supply everything, but charge for the convenience.

I love it so much! At the park I can reapply so easily and not end up with hands that are coated in sand and cream.

I request it every year but I still have a few parents who end up bringing me some Coppertone baby cream or something. I usually just use that for initial applications and then bring a spray with me to the park.

I ask parents for supplies n they bring in bag fills of useless things. I have an itemized list for them to follow but they bring extra stuff they think kids need. Instead of having a debate over the need for each item I just store away.
I do end up supplying sippy cups, bottles, pacifiers, clothing n hats n gloves. Parents love to bring in the newest cup that can tranform into a space rocket (jk) n clothing, hats n gloves that no longer fit. For a few extra dollars I rather have my own supply here n not to hound the parents for the proper supplys. Sad but convenient .

                This!

If you have requested that mom bring some additional or different supplies and she has not, then INSIST that she does. It is YOUR business.....sometimes parents need to be TOLD not asked.

                I don't buy anything extra.

My parents bring wet wipes, tissues, sunscreen and bug spray. I give them a list of acceptable brands and they can choose which ones to buy.

I don't make it hard....just don't bring the really crappy kind. kwim? There are some really good generic brands out there so they have lots to choose from.

Perhaps the parents don't buy the spray because of the dangers associated with that type of sunscreen. I wouldn't want spray used on my child and if I provided the sunscreen I would want what I provided to be used.

We are not allowed to use ANY spray on children in MO and specifically the sunscreen If a prent brings it I can't use it. It gets into the lungs.

I supply everything except diapers and formula. I don't have time to pick thru the pile for each specific kid. when I change a diaper I want to grab one box of wipes not 5 packages and 5 diapers to change a bum. I don't have room to carry 5 different types of sunscreen to the park. I've never heard of the spray and the lungs, I'd be more affraid of the cream stuff as the kids would lick it off because it does take a bit to dry.

The stuff I use is non-aerosol and I don't spray it onto their faces. There is no vapour to breathe in.

I would supply the stuff and use it as a tax write off.

I'm not sure if we can use the spray type or not but in CA anything that is given to or applied on the child (such as vicks, aloe vera, and sun screen- I heard even baby/boogie wipes if you supply it) the parent needs to sign a paper that says it is okay for you to use these on their child if needed
