    Masking Tape Question

Can I put masking tape on a smooth stained wood surface? Will it take the finish off? I have this idea to make a racetrack on top of a nice wood table I have. I might admit that it's a dumb idea and put the racetrack somewhere else. Like the rug. But I'm still wondering.

I used painter's tape on my stained wood door to hang calendars, etc and it took some of the finish off.... I'd be nervous about it. I now use poster putty.

woodworker hubby says "Nooooooooooooo! Don't do it!"

Masking tape is not as simple as it seems to be.

He says if you are going to put anything sticky or an adhesive on a wood surface, you will have issues no matter what the manufacturer says it is safe for.

        gotcha thanks!!

I'll put it on the awful carpet or the ugly not-wood floor then. I'll set something else up on the table. Maybe small train track set up.

My 20 month old is being a pill lately. He's mine, and I love him dearly, but I'm about to reorg my entire playroom due to him and his destructive dumpy habits :P

Yeah, I tell him at least once a day that he's lucky he's cute. And he is cute. And makes me want to box him up and mail him to the moon on a regular basis.

I used to use blue painters tape on my hardwood floors but won't do it anymore since it pulled some of the finish off with it.

If you are wanting a race track, maybe make the jeans tracks from this idea on pintrest so they can build their track and it doesn't need to be stuck down to the table.

Those are neat! Will store that idea away for later.

I'm wanting something that the aforementioned 20 month old can't (easily) just pull apart, thus angering all the big kids trying to play
