    Help (Sickness Question)

All of us have been fighting something or another here lately. I have had several kids out since last week

Tonight my 9yo says will you look at my throat?

She has been coughing like the rest of the kids.

She has many many blisters on the back of her throat.

Not sure how to handle this. Too late for urgent care. No fever. "Shouldn't" get strep (tonsils out) but has been exposed to it.

    Any ideas.

I know not much info- sorry

I've never had strep, but my husband's cousin just had it. She had her tonsils out about 4 years ago. Strep might be a possibility.

Can you just make her as comfortable as you can until you can get to a doctor tomorrow?

You can get strep without tonsils. I've had it. I would call in to your doctor and see what he/she suggests. It is possible since your daughter has been exposed that your doctor will just call in a prescription.

Is HFM going around your area? She seems a little old to get it & since she was exposed to strep it may not be but, my son has had this 2x in his 4 years with blisters in his throat. No blisters anywhere else. Has she run a fever at all? He did have high fevers with it though, both times.

HFM went around our area late summer & we were fortunate not to get it in my daycare. It was spreading like wildfire! But this was my next thought too.

No fever, that I am aware of, but when she used to get strep (prior to tonsils out) she would just complain of a belly ache and she had strep. So no fever would not surprise me.

She seems fine now, she doesn't even say her throat hurts unless she coughs. Its strange. I will be calling the doctor in the morning.

          Thanks to all!!

When I had my tonsils removed at age 22 the doctor could not believe I did not have chronic strep as a kid. My tonsils were the size of walnuts upon removal I don't think I ever had it. Prior to surgery I had tonsillitis from July 4 week to labor day....continuously. The only time I was better was every time I was on antibiotics. Took me off of them & the same night I had symptoms again. That is nasty stuff when the throat is involved. I hope she is doing better. She is lucky she had them removed as a child...trust me! Labor was less painful.

Well dr says its sinus drainage.

Gave an antibiotic to use only IF she starts to run a fever.

I was really hoping it was strep because a dose of antibiotics will help her.

It could be a long day keeping her away from the DCKs.
