    FRIENDLY DCD's???? LOL

i know we encounter all kinds of parents in this business but piggybacking off of the crazy DCM's thread.. whats up with these "friendly" dcd's??

have you ever had any awkward experiences.. i had a dad..he wasnt QUITE flirting BUT he was i guess a forward guy..his SA was my first client after school and he called himself giving me alot of advice, asking was my husband supportive, said he admired me, staying on the phone w/ me like 5 min when all he called to say was he was running late.. all that wore off of course after a while so i didnt have to say anything even though it was beginning to get wierd..
so he is my neighbor as well and one day he called, my sub was there, and he said he was trying to reach his wife but she wasnt answering, wanted to know if her car was outside??????????????????? O M G.. i told her i was so sorry for that..

that doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary to me. Maybe he is just a very forward kind of guy,not afraid to ask questions. For example, if my husband is working and I know he's with a certain co worker (who I have the phone number to) and I can't reach my husband I will sometimes call the co worker to see if they are still out working or to make sure he is ok.

well we are not close like that in my neighborhood.. i didnt even know them until i started keeping their child, AND he called the daycare number private once to hide his phone number and asked who is this.. i said this is "blah blah daycare" and he said WRONG NUMBER..whats that all about?? i knew it was him..his voice is very recognizeable..
when i explained to him that my husband was very supportive, he told me "dont go lying like alot of you women do.. you try to make the man soo good when really he is really not worth a dime"..

believe me, it was subtle but this dude was borderline inappropriate, but that seems to be his character and he didnt cross any SERIOUS lines so its all good

Yeah, I had one that was touchy/feely type of person. Kind of creeped me out, but that was his personality. He lifted another neighbor's shirt to rub her pregnant belly.

After the couple divorced, he called me 6 or 7 times asking about maid service, gardener, etc. I just quit answering his calls and he stopped.

I've had a couple make inappropriate comments but by far the worst was one that wouldn't take my no to his date night proposition before my divorce was even finalized. He was creepy as heck to begin with, totally not my type, dating was the last thing on my mind and it was just plain inappropriate.

I finally concocted a lie telling him I was dating my next door neighbor and put light hearted emphasis on my boyfriend keeping an eye on my driveway because once all the daycare vehicles cleared he'd always head over so we could head out and do this, that and the other.

I actually didn't know my next door neighbor well at all, much less had any notion of dating him but he was attractive, bigger than dcd and my age to boot so I'd often follow this particular dad out and wave to the guy with a smile if he was outside at the time

            Made me feel safer.

So did sharing with him one morning that the night before I'd just finished my last self defense class and was so proud I could now effectively gouge out an eyeball and bust an arm at the elbow in a split second if I ever needed to.....you know, in case I ever needed to protect the children in my care from an intruder...or something.......

                ::

I just have one that is slightly awkward with me. He'll say one thing and then stare at me and smile for several minutes, even if I just nod and smile. I have to usher him out the door.

This is coming from someone who very rarely catches on to anything out of the ordinary. I also don't find many things awkward.

When I was in college and worked in a daycare center, I had a Dad that would seek me out to touch me on the shoulder, back, etc. I could even position myself against a wall far away from his son and he'd still come find me, talk to me, and touch me. I wasn't the only teacher in that room and he never did it to them. It really creeped me out.

I'm old enough to be the mother of all my DCD's. Most of them act like they're scared of me......::::

I have one DCD in particular that is very shy aorund me and I often catch him staring at my... ummm chest. He likes to linger and chat (though has a hard time making eye contact) when my hubby isn't home... but when hubby's home, he's in and out as quick as can be. :: We went to highschool together and I think he had a crush on me then too. Haha!
