Please Don't Tell Children What They Can Do At Childcare

    especially if it won't happen!!!!

3 day at grandparent child just told another child they don't have to take a nap. Parent said they didn't have to-maybe they could do a quiet activity-

Received the same information also from parent this moring and didn't really respond as I was helping another child.

Behavior issues are already starting and child has been letting everyone and anyone know they are going this weekend.
Each day is a fresh start
    Never look back on regrets
    Live life to the fullest
We only get one shot at this!!

I had a child tell me yesterday that she only had to take a nap if she wanted to. I made it clear to her that "I" will decide if she takes a nap or not. I would go about your regular routine.

I love it when mom brings kid with a bottle of "Bug Juice" and Chips and an entire bag of rock candy and tells him he can't eat it until he gets here...

Oh sure... let me help you with that sweetie! WHOOPS it all fell in the trash. That's a darn shame!

Or maybe, let the child have it 10 minutes before pick up

Hand it back at the end of the day..."I'm so sorry, we were so busy, DCK never even got to enjoy his snack. I'm sure he'd love to have it on the way home!"

You did tell that child that their mom is going to take them to McDonald's right after pick up tonight and then on to Target to pick out whatever toy they want right?

I mean it is only fair.

              That does seem fair.

I just did something similar two weeks ago.
One of our kinders who usually has a somewhat healthy snack came in on a no kindergarten Friday with a snack bag FULL of chocolate. 5 different chocolate snacks. Then he told me that he's not allowed chocolate at home becuase "Mom says it makes me crazy."
So I let him dig in and eat as much chocolate as he wanted at 5 pm.. 20 minutes before his mom picks up. OOPS.

Good for you. WTH is wrong with these people.
I simply do not allow outside food.

I'm right there with ya! Unbelievable what parents tell their kids. Once had a mom tell me that she told her "angel" he didn't have to take a nap that day, then proceeded to ask me if that would be a problem. My response? "So you'll be picking up right after lunch. Thanks for letting me know, I'll have him ready to go."

hahahaha you guys are funny! I can't believe some parents! I like the idea of giving them the junk food right before pick-up! I can't believe how rude people can be, they don't think of their providers sanity, the people who probably spend more time with them than they (the parents)do!

A few weeks ago I had a day when I only had one family of two dcb's. Dcm knows this and calls about 30 mins before lunch to ask if it would be okay if she brought McDonalds for them. I said, Ummmm, okay I guess. I mean, I just thought, you know I serve very healthy meals.....why can't you save the fast food for when they're at home? I know the thought was nice and she was trying to win points with the boys but I really wish they (dcp) acted a little more supportive of my healthy lunches.
