Terrible Behavior, Send Home or Go to Bed?

22mo arrives, mom says he didn't sleep good, so I don't know what time he will be tired. I'm thinking.... Well nap time is 12:30, everyone sleeps at the same time...
So far he has kicked another kid in the face, causing a bump and bruising, hit, kicked, pushed and more. Crying all the while.
I'm tempted to send him home for bad behavior! My other option is putting him to bed and ruining my afternoon as well.

    {hugs} toddler behavior is tough!

I do think his behavior is pretty par for the course for a toddler who lacks the verbal skill and cognitive ability to say "Hey mom! I am tired and/or hungry and didn't get enough sleep so I am feeling kind of stressed today!" I would simply try and get him interested and focus on something and just try to survive until nap time.

If you put him down now, you know he will be up at nap time and then all the other kids will want to be up too and then the whole rest of your day will be hard!

I would rather have a hard morning until nap time and then have a shot at a better afternoon.

      Sounds like a plan. It's already 11am.

Not a fun way to start the day...
I would have the child lay down and take a nap immediately if his behavior is threatening other children and stems from being overly tired.

I have never sent a child home, but have had them take a morning nap, if they were still needing more sleep and an afternoon later in the day.

LOL I just saw the pp and realized it is already 11:00 am at your house! It's still just 8:00 here, so yes... I would definitely just keep him up for another hour!

Could you put a movie in and do a movie day? Sometimes when my toddler acts out like that, I'll put a movie on and put him in his chair and he calms right down.

I'd ride out the morning until nap time. If you put him down early, he will destroy everybody else's nap time, then his parents get to enjoy putting him back to bed at 6:00 and he sleeps til 5:30, and you get a tired crabby kid again by 9:00 a.m the next day.

Sounds like the ship has already sailed now, but I would not change my schedule ...just messes everyone else up and starts a wierd cycle for kiddo in question.
