I do a pretty good job with keeping the kids as clean as i can by the end of the day. But one of my boys got picked up today and i mentioned a rate increase to 100 a week to her. Her response was something to the effect of him being covered in peanutbutter and dried snot yesterday and how i need to do better at keeping him clean if shes going to pay more. UG! Why does that make me feel so awful now

Gosh! Peanut butter and snot? Wow, I wonder what that means?

"You know, that's probably true. We were having SO much fun here yesterday, that I probably forgot to wash him up. I'm sure it's more important to you that the kids are having a blast and learning, but I'll try to keep an eye on it".

      or

"Oh yeah....::..you can't even imagine what I'm covered with by the end of the day!"

*IF* she's going to pay more... as if it's an option.
I would have just said "I'm sure little Johnny is always sparkling clean at home, but in real life here at daycare we're really busy having fun so sometimes we miss things. See you tomorrow." And walked away.

Yes well i did comment he played a lot in the sand box today and looks great. Speaking of the sand box my niece brought a bucket of sand in with her when it was time to go in. I looked at her and asked who brought in the sand. She said 'i dont know' that usually means it was her. I said she wouldnt be in trouble, and she admitted it. Apparently there is a strong fear of being swatted somewhere in there.
