    Coxsackie

I have a child in my daycare diagnosed with coxsackie. Any advice on keeping it from spreading. We always wash hands, wipe down tables and clean the bathrooms. We will inform all the parents, is there anything else I should be doing??

Hand, foot, mouth disease is very, very common. It incubates from 3-6 days and can be infectious from surfaces for weeks.

Wipe all surfaces Bleach/water , soak toys in same (air dry), launder linens with color safe bleach, lysol all handles, knobs, etc.

Children can come back after 24 hours fever free, typically.

Golden Rule covered this one! I've dealt with this virus once before and this is exactly what I did.

I've had one kid that got that and I had his parents keep him out until the sores were crusted over. It can lay dormant for a while after the fever and sores are gone, so I'd just keep my eyes on anything that looks suspicious. But then again, I'm a bit of a germophobe!

THis is exactly correct, it is most contagious the first week of having it. I am so lucky I have never had to deal with it, or anything like it here at daycare!
