I'm sure this topic has been discussed, but having trouble finding past posts. I have a two year old who has been showing some interest in napping on a mat, especially now that I have a 3.5 year old who comes once a week and naps on a mat. (Until now, 2 year old was the oldest.)
The trouble seems to be actually making it happen. Right now, he naps in a very dark room in the basement, but I'd like kids on mats to be on the living room floor where I can keep an eye on them while I do paperwork, clean the kitchen, etc. We tried today, and I gave him an hour before I gave up and brought him back down to his crib. He rolled around, inspected bookcases, tried to talk to me, sang along with the nap music, anything to avoid sleeping. I brought him downstairs and he was asleep in five minutes.
How have others done this?
