Clearance on School Supplies

Do any of you seasoned child care providers know when all of the school supplies (glue sticks, paper, pencils, etc) at walmart or target usually go on clearance?

I called walmart and they could not give me a day that they go on sale. I just don't want to miss it IYKWIM

When would be a good time to go? I was just in walmart yesterday and none of that stuff was on clearnace yet.

I've normally found clearance items in late Oct/early Nov. Try then. It varies from store to store.

The past two months has been the time to buy school supplies.

I am with Sharlan.....they are marked down now........in a few weeks the should be going back to the regular prices. I don't think our Walmart ever marks them down lower than where they are.

Our Target is clearancing things out now.

Hint to Target shoppers: My sister works at Target Corporation and she said that any time you see a clearance price ending in a "4" such as $2.74, that is the lowest price it will be clearanced to in most cases.

I also agree with PP, that Walmart rarely ever clearances school supply items for any cheaper than they seel at Back-to-school time.

I did get an entire set of cushions for our 9 piece patio set for $60 yesterday. The cusshions were almost $70 each and they were all clearanced yesterday so I scored in that department. happyface

Yup Target usually clearances now to make way for Halloween in the seasonal department.

My walmart has school supplies dirt cheap right now. 17 cents for notebooks 88 cents for pencils 50 cent gluesticks. I stock up for all of us at this time of year. In another week or two you can bet notebooks will be back up to about 2 bucks. I will wait all year to buy notebooks, folders, everything until now. And I did my shopping the first week they were out. Last year we waited until right before school started and they were out of a TON of supplies. In my area I thought Target was more expensive then Walmart for school supplies, although Target had cooler gadgets, etc

Our wal-mart has already increased the prices OFF of sale. Crayons were 10 cents, notebooks not much more, pencils, erasers all were on sale - but I was there yesterday and they are all back up to normal prices.

school started here 2 weeks ago. Walmart already started the clearance here I did not go this weekend but I bet they went down more this weekend.
