    2 questions...

First, I was wondering what you give your parents at the end of the year for their child care tax credit and basically a receipt for the daycare they have paid for. Is there a form I can print and fill out to give them? One parent already asked for it plus needs it as proof he has paid because it's part of his child support.

Also, I have a vacation coming up and holidays we will be closed. Last time I did a little newsletter and mentioned the dates coming up that I would be closed while addressing some other things. This time I don't really have anything to put in a newsletter other than the dates coming up that I will be closed. Not sure how I should remind them and let them know of the vacation time (halloween week). Any ideas?

Thanks in advance with any help.

www.thedaycarelady.com has End of Year tax receipts you can print...that's what I use.

I always give out a "Dates to Remember" sheet to my families at the beginning of September with all the dates of closings, vacations, field trips, Christmas Party, etc. It lists all the dates I know through August. I put a little footnote at the bottom that says I will keep them updated with any changes. My parents have commented that they really like having that.

If you use MMK software they have a form (W-10) that you can use either as a blank form you fill out or with info already filled in for each family.

FWIW~ You aren't required to give parents any year end receipt at all. It is their responsibility to provide you with the W-10 form and you need to sign it but you aren't required by law to give end of the year totals to anyone.

It is good business practice to do so but even if a parent is claiming they paid more than they really did, if you keep your records up to date and well, you have nothing to worry about.

Here is Tom Copeland's blog article about this subject: http://www.tomcopelandblog.com/2011/...-receipts.html
