After 17 years, we are moving the day care to our home and selling our day care house!
We're going to save a ton of money without two mortgages, two sets of utilities etc. Our home town has a shortage of providers and we already have a waiting list for when we open! We've completely re-done the basement (1500 sq ft) and will be making the move by the end of the month. Just had the fire dept.'s OK. I'm excited about the move. The day care has a separate entrance etc will be great.
I have enjoyed keeping the day care separate from home, but that will still be possible with our new set-up as we all "live" upstairs.
Best part is almost all our day care families are going with us. I increased my rates and some will have to travel further to get to us...but they are coming anyway, which makes me very happy.
The "mother of 7" that I have vented about numerous times, is not a happy camper however. Evidently, this is very inconvenient for her and evidently I shouldn't be "allowed" to move!!!! To teach me a lesson, she told me she was only going to bring the three youngest to my day care. I said OK and promptly filled the 4 other spots. Yesterday, she was furious because she changed her mind and wants the older ones with me anyway. She went ballistic when I told her I didn't have room for them now. I always hated having so much of my income tied to her.
I am going to enjoy seeing my husband all day and seeing my daughters right after school at 3PM instead of after 6PM. I will be able to start dinner earlier and we can eat before 8pm! When my parents come to visit from the UK, I can be around them all day too instead of gone 6-6. These things alone outway anything I will be giving up by selling the day care house.
More time with family
More income
Happy camper dance!!!!!!happyfacehappyfacehappyfacehappyfacehappyface
However...I am more tired than I have ever been in my life right now, as we try to move and stay open at the same time! Our evenings have been filled with painting etc. I'll be glad when it's all done!
