    Those With Hardwood Floors

Okay, just got rid of carpet about a week ago and put in a laminate wood floor. I can't belive how well that carpet masked the noise. It's so loud in my daycare now.

I still have to get more rugs but have the foam mats down in one part of the play area. We still need to close off the space to the rest of our house. Hoping that helps.

Do rugs really make a big difference or do I need to get use to the louder noise?

They actually make noise go down sooooo much. Also, I don't like the coldness of hardwood floors. We have some friends that took out all carpets in main living areas and now totally regret it because they don't like to put their baby down on the hard floor. The dust and dirt or so much harder to keep up.

We had the opportunity to have hardwood floors but for now decided to put carpet over it. Also, while we were deciding, someone came in with something on their shoe before I could tell them shoes off and put a scratch on it-

Try putting a quilted wall hanging on the wall. It's AMAZING how it absorbs sound. There are some really cute kids quilts out there. I have three hanging on the walls in my baby room. Makes a huge difference in the noise...and I even have carpets!

I love my hardwood!!! I use those primary colored rubber mats in the center of my floor so maybe that absorbs the sound??? My only complaint about the hardwood is that there's nothing to collect the dust....it blows like tumbleweed in here!!! Sweeping & vacuuming a few times a day.
