Not Sure How To Handle This ... What Would You Do?

DCB comes Mondays and Wednesdays. Last Thursday, he broke out with hand foot and mouth disease.

So he is supposed to come tomorrow. DCM just called saying he never got a fever and his blisters are healing.

By her description, my phb says she can bring him ...

Should I allow him to come? Should I tell them to stay home anyway? Would you have him stay home both days? This is the 3rd illness in 1 month that has come from this child. My daughter literally stopped antibiotics on Friday.

Any advice/suggestions are appreciated! Thank you!

My daughters are both just getting over hand, foot, and mouth. Their pediatrician said to give it a full week (and she actually wanted my oldest out of school 2 extra days just to be sure. Everything I have read about it says they can be contagious for a week through mucus/saliva and for many more weeks through their stool.

I would require the boy stay out at least a week.

Hand, Foot and Mouth disease is highly contagious. Does DCM have a doctor's note that her child is okay to return to daycare? If not, I would suggest asking her to provide a note from the doctor.

I would insist on a doctor's note. If you feel that she is someone who may hide the truth in order to get the kid back into daycare, you can insist on taking to the doctor directly. I would never take the chance with this.

Tried that and the doctors will release 24 to 48hrs after fever. One of my daycare boys came down with it and he was out a week and then another boy came down with it and his doctor released him 3 days later. The doctor says They can return back to daycare school fever free for 24-48 hrs. It is really contagious as 2 of my daycare families fathers came down with it as well. No one in my family has gotten it though...very strange..but we all wash our hands quiet a bit. That is the key thing...washing your hands all the time.
