I had a little one today that has had a runny nose for two days. Today, I could tell that she wasn't feeling great but it wasn't enough to send her home. After nap, she would just break down in huge sobs, tears and all for no reason. This is not a tantrum. It was this desperate crying like she was just so tired and something was not right. I get her snacked and hold and entertain for a bit which I don't normally do but this little one was just so needy in a sad sort of way. I finally call DCM after a full hour of not being able to put this child down when she NEVER wants to be held usually. She says "well, have you tried to give her a hug? maybe that will help". ummm....of course I have comforted her! What kind of person would I be if I just let her cry for an hour with no sort of comfort! So anyway, mom picks up and thats that but I thought this comment was pretty funny.
Apparently "Love Is All You Need!" Ha Ha

Mom says: "well, have you tried to give her a hug?"
Cheer: Well thank you for asking. I DID instititute the "hug/snuggle" technique 38 times. I hugged her every other minute for 38 minutes and snuggled her on the opposite minutes for 38 minutes. She refused 19 hugs and 19 snuggles.
What am I doing wrong?
Maybe I should try doing JUST hugs next time.- Flag

I have this written in my contract- if child crying, whining, will not participate in activities, not sleeping, parents will be called- it's something like this anyways.- Flag
