    Good Job DCM... Vent

One of my DCB's is out sick today with a horrible cough & cold. The mom texts me about 2 hours ago and says that he is improving and will be fine to come back tomorrow. I'm thinking "yeah right" because he sounded awful yesterday with a nasty green runny nose and gross cough. He's 13 months old and still on a bottle and I couldn't get him to eat at all. He was really having a hard time breathing so I sent him home early yesterday. There is no way he's ok to come tomorrow... but who knows... maybe a miracle occurred.

So I just went on my daycare Facebook page and this dingbat mom posted on her page this an hour ago: "My little 'Bobby' is SO grumpy & sick with this horrid cough and his nose is exploding with projectile snot that never stops!" HA! Really??? Then one of her friends says "My Sally is sick with the same thing. Just take him to daycare so that the poor daycare can deal with their grumpiness!" Oh hell nooooo....

So I say "Oh wow... sounds like Bobby got worse & will need to stay home again tomorrow" She replies "We'll see how he is in the morning. I think today was the worst of it. He's fine". I sent her a private email along with my sick policy attached and said "Just a heads up that if Bobby still has that horrid cough at all tomorrow or the projectile snot, he definitely will need to stay home. I'm sending you my sick policy for you to review. Thanks"

ERRRR... makes me so mad how she was lying to me about how he's doing but then she is so dumb that she posts it on Facebook probably forgetting that she is a friend on there with me. I know FB causes drama because of things like this, but I'm glad I have it so I can see when these people lie to me in situations like this.

Anyway... if he does come tomorrow, I'm sure I'll just be sending him away at the door. I just hate having to anticipate that whole ordeal.

Ugh, sorry. I just wish they could understand the other side of the coin! Hang in there and stick to your guns!

Thanks sahm2three... I'm trying. Sometimes I feel so frustrated with these parents.

I would be very upset if I saw something like that posted on FB!! It stinks that you have a parent who could obviously care less about her childs feelings, let alone the issues it will cause you to have a sick child in your care. It's also not helpful that she has friends who are encouraging her to leave her grumpy/ill child with you! Why do people think that is ok or best for the child.

Hang in there...be sure to send him home if he's not well if/when he arrives to you!!

Thanks Mom&Provider So this morning I look on FB and she posts "Grumpy boy is now Happy Boy and he is ALL better"... HAHA... yeah right. I knew she posted that so I would see it. Anyway - she never shows up! So I ended up having to call her to see if he was coming. No answer. Then she texts me @ 10am - 3 hrs after he should have been here - and says that she was keeping him home because he "relapsed". Whatever. I know he was super sick. So lame. I'm just glad she kept him home though and I didn't have to deal with her trying to bring him. She texts me again a bit ago and said she will bring him tomorrow. Hmmm... we'll see how that goes. If he is still sick, he's getting sent home asap. These people drive me crazy!
