All Right So Now I Feel Weird …

That I did not say anything. DCM from termination letter is it that simple called to let me know that DCB hurt his back at school today so I do not

need to pick him up. I had just gotten back from mailing her termination letter and did not say anything. Was not comfortable saying I know your son

is hurt and you have not picked him up from school yet. Therefore, do not know how badly he is hurt and you did remember to call me, (something that

this family has a problem remembering to do see thread titles “how hard is it …”), but I thought I would let you know I am terminating your child care,

hope your son is ok.

But now a feel weird that I did not say anything.

oooh, I hate awkward moments like that. Glad they called you this time.
I would just give them a call later and talk to them. I usually write up the letter and hand it to them. I always have their things ready if they need to leave that day (only happened once), otherwise, I just want to verbally let them know that here's what's going on. We've usually talked about it a good number of times and now I even keep a paper (parent signed) record of all issues in case it becomes a problem. I have a three strikes and you're out rule. It's more complicated than it sounds, but it's a system that I put in place to help the parent's know the deal as well as the children. It takes the pressure off of me and surprise factor of the 'sorry, but can't continue care' out, which is nice.

The one that I had to term that day I ended up getting an invite to an event two days later (sent before the term of course). That was awkward as well.

Anyway, I digress. Don't worry too much.

Called DCM, asked how DCB was doing got update that he was ok DCM said she will be taking him to the chiropractor because he is walking funny. I told

her I was glad he is going to be ok and I wanted to let you know and I probably should have said something when you called but I knew you where

on your way to pick DCB up, so any way, after much thought, consideration and conversations with DCB I have deiced that it would be best if we

terminated his care at the start of Christmas break December 16, 2011. She did ask if there was any thing specific I told her that yesterday I was talking

to DCB about talking to the other children nicely and he indicated that, that was something he was not capable of, and that everything I do and say is

unfair. Therefore, if DCB is that unhappy it is best that we move on from here. DCM said Yah he has indicated that he is not happy their but I think it

is because he would rather be at home playing video games. I told her that might be part of it, you just can never know for sure. Conversation ended on

a good note Mom said she would talk to Dad about the matter.

I'm glad you talked to dcm. It would have been a lot worse if you just sent the notice and hadn't said anything. Good communication seriously lessens the chances of a bad ending. Glad things worked out well for you and I hope the kid is okay!

mom did not give speicifcs on the child's health but I got the feeling he is ok.
