I was talking to a kindergarten teacher about this, and she and other teachers had these ideas:
    1. have a tattle phone (a real, but not working phone). The kids can use the phone and tell the tattle to the phone.
    2. the tattle ear. some of them have a big picture of an ear on the wall and the kids can go tell their tattle to the ear (same concept as phone).

The idea is that the teachers put these things in close proximity to themselves so they can still hear what is being said (in case it warrants further investigation)

I like "Are you telling me this to get someone OUT of trouble, or to get someone IN trouble?"

I read an article (cant find it) about a teacher who said "NO TATTLING". The lady who wrote the article was another teacher. One day, she was in the overheard the other class in the hallway. "Mrs. so-and-so...Jimmie....". Teacher: "I don't want to hear it", turning her back. Little girl, mumbling "ok, I just thought you'd like to know that Jimmie is setting fire to the bathroom".

Well THAT wouldn't be good~~ LOL

I just get the annoying, silly, toddler/preschooler tattles: she's not being nice, she won't share with me, she took my turn, she has my book..... you know the kind.......the tattles where even us with a ton of patience want to put ear plugs in our ears...... well I did try what Nan suggest. It was hysterical to see the 'leaders' face.......I told her to go tell the 2 yr old, which is the one she was tattle about~ I should have had a camera ready. She looked at me with a 'huh??' look on her face..... then when the 2 yr old tattled a minute later I told HER to go tell the 19 month old, who can't speak a word....the 2 yr old said 'ok' and tattled to him, to which he just looked at her and smiled, not understanding a word she said.....funny, funny, funny
