Just got my license but still need help

Hello! I am new to the Daycare.com family and I just received my GFDC license for 12-14 kids in NY. I am unemployed and will like to know if anyone has links or advice on buying cheap furniture/items. Do you know of any organizations that will donate free items? Do you know of what I should do to receive funding to help me with the start-up process. Do you have a successfull way to promote your daycare? Thank you so much in advance!

After all the licensing and set up is ready, don't forget to run a nice ad in the phone book. That's the secret that really made our daycare take off.

People just love to learn. Planning to include after school tutoring program for the late working parents. Looking for a plan to extend to a personalized education system for up to 8th grade.

                  Renters beware

To the people asking about renting an apartment and starting a home daycare I say BEWARE.

99% of the time it is against your lease to run a business out of your home, even if you have all the proper papers to have a daycare. Most landlords do not allow it for many many reasons.

I live next to an impromptu daycare and this is the most SELFISH THING a person can do. I have nothing against kids, but you wouldn't want to live next to a gas station or a walmart, it's the same thing. Yet I pay a hefty rent to listen to 6 other kids scream.

Not only is it illegal most of the time, your neighbors will not be pleased. Why? Because we don't want to be up at 6am every day with your 6 clients. We have a right to quiet enjoyment of our property. I'm reading threads about "bad neighbors" disrupting your kids naptimes? Seriously? Life goes on outside the parameters of a newborn or toddlers schedule. You want us to be courteous, take it into consideration that your kids are just as loud and annoying as music or a dog barking.

PLEASE take into consideration that your kids and other people's kids are not "special" or "precious" to anyone but you and their families. On top of which you are being PAID to put up with this nonsense and we are not.

                      Opening a Daycare

Hi there! Are you opening a group family home daycare or a childcare center? Where are you planning to open this center? New York State Office of Children and Family Services oversees all New York group family home daycares, as well as all childcare centers excet for the 5 boroughs. There are regulations that can be found on ocfs.org under group family regulations. If you are planning to open a daycare in NYC, then the regulations are Article 47; if you just google Article 47, you'll find the document. My company provides consulting services to developers and others who are interested in opening a childcare center, if you are interested. cindy@itcgnyc.com

                        Opening a Dacyare

Great to hear you are considering opening a daycare. What state/city are you in? My company helps clients open daycare/preschools in the New York City area.

If you are in New York State, you can find the rules and regulations at

These are the regulations for childcare centers in all of New York EXCEPT New York City.

If you are opening a group family home (caring fro 12-16 children in your own home) in New York State INCLUDING New York City, you can find the regulations at

It's most important you conduct a demographic survey, secure your financial backing (it's not a cheap investment for sure) and secure your property before you jump into the project. The typical childcare center project, if done properly, takes from 8 - 18 months to develop. If you are interested in a group family home (caring for up to 12-16 children in your own home) then you should allow 4-6 months for the project.

                        Good Luck!

My Company specializes in New Center Development for developers and individuals interested in opening a daycare/childcare center in NYC and Long Island. Are you looking at opening a childcare center or group family daycare? Have you secured your financial backing and found a location? I can certainly help you. The very first thing you will need to do aside of the prior two things is read through the OCFS Rules and Regulations; they can be found at http://www.ocfs.state.ny.us/main/chi...ycare_regs.asp be sure you read the correct ones, as there are separate ones for group family vs. childcare centers. My Company can assist you with a free consultation/site viability meeting and then we can further discuss how we can further help with your project.

                              Hey,
My mother is trying to start a day care center, however she doesn't speak, or writes English. Can she still open a day Care?

Open a day care center in nyc

                                Hello,

I am new in this forum and i need some informations about open a day care center in nyc.

I did a workshop for the licence and i start to find a possible site.
                                I find a site but the building doesn't have a C of O. it's old.

Should i request a letter of non objection or the BCC request it directly?
This letter can replace the C of O?
Does someone know how long does it take?

I already put a deposit for the site, i am waiting for the inspection and hope they accept it.

i can't have over 3 months concessions, so i need to do everything fast and be ready to open my day care after three months so February 2012.

                                Thanks for your help
