3rd time in less than a year that an Amish buggy has been hit by a vehicle. In all 3 instances the Amish were not at fault.
There's been serious injuries, horses killed, buggies smashed.
Distracted driving is ridiculous. Pay attention to the road. Heading home from shopping tonight I almost got t-boned because someone blew a stop sign.
Just angry tonight, this needs to stop.Comment

@bumblebee: had an amish friend of ours in tennessee get hit last year in a buggy that he was riding in by a distracted driver, it was 3 adults I believe in the buggy and no children were involved but one had to be airlifted to a local hospital and they didn't know if he would live or not and our friend has bruises aand and a sore hip but he is better now. How was the amish that was hit?Comment

Red lights are a suggestion here. People treat them like stop signs
When my dd and I were walking every night we were nearly hit so many times by drivers not paying attention.Comment

From what I've heard the Amish involved are ok. This was the most minor of the 3 accidents.
The first an Amish gentleman was critically injured, 2nd a horse was killed. Both of those the buggies were destroyed. This one the buggy is damaged but was upright and in one piece.Comment

People from the various agencies we deal with who show up without properly introducing themselves or proper ID. Don't they know how creepy that is?
I really want an email introduction first preferably with a photo. I had to call one agency this past week to make sure a person was legit, and then today I had a person show up...to deliver a flier. They had ID and I didn't let them in (they didn't want to come in), but why come by just to deliver a flier?
Then I get flaky divorced daycare dad, who I've never met call me (again), and ask if he can just fill something out online and come get his kids. No dude, you need to schedule a meeting with me and your ex-wife so I can meet you so I can recognize you, and I don't wonder if I'm turning the kids over to the right person when you show up.
Makes me want to get some major security out the front!Comment

Be careful. He can legally show up with a LEO to verify his ID and pick up his kids, anytime. We can't deny parents, even if the other parent wants us to. :hug:

I know...and really I do let kids go...with grandma or whoever...even just on text/phone call verification from the parent I know. But dcm says that this dad is prone to being very random, and she says it's likely that he could show up with no id or verification and want his kid. He's kinda tried it several times already by calling me without me hearing from mom. I really don't want to have to turn him away from the door, so I keep trying to push back and tell him he needs to sit down and meet with me and dcm.Be careful. We are licensed by the state if Alabama and if we EVER let a child go without checking a child's permission form and that person's I.d, we would get wrote up and our license pulled. If I were a parent and my child went to your daycare and I found out what you were doing, I would pull and report you. Dont matter what the circumstances are I would be LIVIDComment
